I have a (possibly unhealthy) semi-scientific interest in how the Universe works. As far as I can remember I have this interest my whole life.
My SuspicionThis blog is about a suspicion that I have concerning the existence of a few Universal Principles. Let me try to explain why I think it is worth my evening and weekend time to spend a blog on this subject.
Knowledge of Universal ScalesIn general there are three levels that scientists scale the Universe.
Micro, Meso, and Macro. Within those levels there seem to be rules (or laws) that all entities seem to comply to within - but also specific to - that level. Every level or scale seems to have their own set of rules that is important.
As a scientist you can explain events in a specific level by knowing the rules/laws of that specific level. The knowledge of these rules is known as a Science, e.g. Astronomy or Biology.
Key role AnomaliesAs I tried to become an Economic scientist I realized more and more that there are a lot of relevant
Anomalies (not to speak about
Anomalous Phenomenons). In that case Scientists observe an event that they cannot explain with the current set of known rules. Sometimes these Anomalies even created totally new Sciences or shift the perception of reality for a whole generation of Scientists.
Sometimes anomalies even meant the end of a whole Science School (the Earth was indeed - more - round than flat). The sad and funny thing about some former Anomalies is that when Scientists eventually did explain them, it often was the result of the merger with a totally different type of Science School or even worse ... a whole new Science School.
At the university I realized that Real Leaps in understanding in a scientific way were more than once a result of correctly explaining anomalies. At least until an other Anomaly was encountered that frustrated the latest explanation. Also I often got a bit uncomfortable when it was quite obvious that the current understanding was not sufficient, but the Scientist kept on trying to keep explaining the observed Anomalies within the "know box". Sometimes very fierce. Some would say that this type of behavior is pathetic, but then again what would you do if you discover after believing more than 20 years in some theory that it could be a complete lie?
Why Universal PrinciplesBut why bother fighting for a specific
religion if you know the chance is quite slim that its the right one?
So instead, if the goal could be set to Truth Seeking - instead of Religion Pushing -, my idea is that we should no try to focus on the differences in our Believes but on the similarities.
My suspicion is that we are able to discover a few but relevant Universal Roles that entities play in every Universal Scale and based on these roles Universal Principles will emerge in our obviously very limited human (in)sight on reality.
The similarities in Roles and Principles should be present within all Universal Scales.
On my turn I strongly believe that knowing, understanding and accepting these Roles and Principles can enable the Human Will - the essence of an individual - to move consciously through time and space. This option will replace the lies taught of Everlasting Happiness, Complete Freedom and Independent Truth. And thus enable humans to develop and identify their Real unique and personal needs.
